Spheres of the Multiverse
Etherics are incorporeal beings that were originally created by the Uthras, the Ancient Gods, and are commonly called the First Race. They trace their origins back to the 1st Host when the Uthras lived within the Realms of the Finite, before the return of the Eidolons at the end of the 1st Host. When the Eidolons returned, they tore the Uthras from the Realms of the Finite and bound them to the Far Realms, far beyond the border known as the Wakes of Infinity. The Spheres of Infinitude are themselves planets and planes drawn to the Realms of the Finite, but they are the Far Abodes of the Banished Uthras bound only by both the unique influence of these gods, and the infrastructure built by the (now) sleeping Eidolons.
These Etherics, have traveled beyond the Wakes of Infinity since the end of the 1st Host and have maintained a history into the 2nd Host, when they founded the Great Guilds of Theurgists and Thaumaturgists. They still travel to the Far Realms to visit their Divine Patrons and Patronesses, and gain secrets into the workings of the Eidolons.
After the rise of humanity as a power amongst the Great Guilds, there was a great splintering of the Guild Offices and the Etherics and Humans divided into two separate bureaucratic systems administering their own mortal Spheres of Influence. Elves forged a powerful alliance with the Etherics and with the rise of humanity in the Guild Administration, they were equally persecuted as fascists opposed to the pursuit of Free Trade.
